Today I am going to talk about my some of the books that stood out to me this month. I read a lot, and lately a couple books have really stood out out to me, both good and bad.
The first book I read this month was the book First Love by James Patterson. A million and one of us have read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and this is a similar book. (I have read TFIOS and loved/ hated it) This is somewhat similar in the sense they both have main characters in a similar predicament: both have cancer.
Axi and Robinson are two teens with cancer who embark on a cross country journey with the intent of enjoying themselves while both are in remission. The story is sweet, sad, and a really good read if you want to fall in love with the characters and reminisce long after you finish the book. Buy First Love Here!
Killing Ruby Rose was my Kindle First book choice this month. (For those of you who don't know, Amazon Prime subscribers get to rent 1 book a month for their kindle and can pick 1 out of 4 books that are not available to the public yet.) Kindle First is a nice way for me to try books I usually wouldn't gravitate towards. I really enjoyed Killing Ruby Rose. It was a light read and I went through it quickly.
Ruby Rose is a high school girl who is still grieving after her father was shot during a police bust. Her mother is a prominent attorney running for office and Ruby struggles with feeling like her mom is never there for her. Lonely and needing something to occupy her time, Ruby decides to start following the five men her father had cases on before his death. Ruby, however, finds herself in a lot more than she expected when the five men have more planned than anyone could have imagined. Buy Killing Ruby Rose Here!

Heiresses by Sara Shepard was unlike any other book I have ever read by Sara Shepard. Sara Shepard is the author of popular series such as Pretty Little Liars and the Lying Game. Heiresses is still a book about a murder and solving it, but is more adult like than her previous books.
The Saybrook's are a prominent family in the Upper East Side of New York. The Saybrook's own a large diamond corporation and are insanely wealthy. There are five Saybrook women the book revolves around: Poppy, Natasha, Corrinne, Rowan, and Aster. Each woman has their own lifestyle and all are very different. All but Natasha have a commonality: they work for Saybrook Diamonds. But when the President of Saybrook Diamonds, Poppy, is found to have committed suicide at the headquarters, the girls go on a mission to find out the truth about what happened the fateful day Poppy fell from the top of the Saybrook Headquarters. Another book I read recently was Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. Honestly I was not such a fan of this book, I tried really hard to enjoy it, but it got very odd and the ending left me perplexed and disappointed. If you like suspense books, this is a good book for you. It is a slow starting book, and the first 100 pages are hard to get through, but if you can make it through the first portion it becomes a far more tolerable book.
Nick is married to Amy, and they seem to have the perfect life. Amy is a stay at home wife, and Nick is a professor at a local college. But then Amy goes missing, and Nick is the prime suspect. Gone Girl is told in the perspective of Nick as the mystery of how Amy disappeared unfolds. It is a good suspense book, but the ending disappointed me. This will be made into a movie starring I believe Ben Affleck, and I am interested to see how they turn this into a movie. Buy Gone Girl Here!

I am currently reading Toxic by Sara Shepard. This is book 15(!) of the Pretty Little Liars series. Honestly, I feel as if this series has been strung out long enough, and I am eager for Sara Shepard to finish this series off and move on to the next. Sometimes I feel as if she makes the story and plotline harder and harder to believe as time goes on. Nonetheless, I continue to read the books as I want to know how it will all end. Buy Toxic Here!
And that is everything for my favorite and (un)favorites of the month for books. I hope to make this a monthly installment and will be rounding up books for next month!
